Who clears the roads of snow so you can drive to work in the morning? Who raises the food you buy in the grocery store? Who runs to a fire when everyone else runs away? People here in Summit County do.
All around us, hard-working people do jobs that not everyone wants to or could do. The Park Record will start a weekly series Wednesday, Nov. 19 called “The Salt of Summit County,” highlighting people with jobs that not just anybody could do.
A dairy farmer, a fire fighter, a former oil rig worker and mountain sawyers will be the first four, but we’re looking for suggestions from you, the reader, of people to highlight.
Who do you know with a tough job? What is a profession that you couldn’t do without but would never want to do yourself? Who do you know with grit? What about people with so much passion or commitment that they keep going at a job that others can’t handle?
We’re looking for people in schools, people with the city, people at the resorts and people on the farm. We’re looking for jobs in the limelight and those in the dark working behind the scenes. We want to find people on mountain tops braving winds and clouds and storms as well as those underground with cockroaches and rodents.
Please look for our first “Salt of Summit County” on Wednesday and give us feedback on what or who you’d like to see.
