The U.S. Marshals Service has been unable to locate a Park City man who went on the lam after pleading guilty last year to 56 counts of bank and wire fraud.

Marshals began tracking Jeffrey F. Geddes when he failed to appear in federal court for sentencing this month.

“Right now, at this time, we are still pursuing numerous leads,” Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Jim Phelps said in a telephone interview Tuesday.

Geddes pleaded guilty in November and was ordered to wear an electronic ankle monitor, which he has removed, according to Phelps.

Anyone with information about the 39-year-old, who was living in Park City, should contact the U.S. Marshals Service at (801) 524-5693.

“We don’t give up We’ve caught everybody that we’ve gone after,” Phelps said. “He is a high priority based on his criminal record.”

But Geddes is not physically dangerous, he stressed.

“He is financially dangerous to the community,” Phelps said.

A plea agreement Geddes had reached with prosecutors included a recommendation for a 10-year prison sentence, according to Melodie Rydalch, a spokeswoman for the Office of the U.S. Attorney General.

“We do know he was pursuing some other frauds,” Phelps said.

U.S. District Court Judge Tena Campbell was slated to sentence Geddes last month.

Restitution in the case could exceed $7.1 million, according to a court stipulation agreement. A federal indictment returned last July indicates that Geddes began his scam by opening an account at Zions for his company, Adagio Stone, LLC.

Zions provided an initial credit line worth about $675,000, Rydalch said.

“The final increase in the line of credit to $30 million occurred about January 2005,” according to Rydalch.

Federal prosecutors said Geddes attempted to enter into a contract to sell Home Depot stone he imported from India. He admitted he regularly provided Zions Bank with fraudulent Home Depot invoices and purchase orders to create the appearance that Home Depot owed his company money, Rydalch said.

“I think he’s a danger to other people’s pocketbooks,” Phelps said recently.
