Someone reported seeing a coyote on the edge of Park Meadows over the course of several days last week, including a report at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14.
According to the Park City Police Department, someone saw a male coyote in the area of Meadows Drive, a road on the edge of Park Meadows. The animal was seen close to Round Valley, a large swath of open space that spreads over a ridge from Park Meadows.
The coyote approached a man and several other people and their dogs, the police were told. The people threw rocks and sticks at the coyote in an effort to chase it off, according to the police.
Coyotes are occasionally seen in the Park City area. They are among the predators that inhabit the region.
Sometimes, however, people mistake large domesticated dogs for coyotes, wildlife officials say.
