Wednesday’s snow was the first of the season for Park City, and while it was too early in the season for the three resorts to send out their skier alerts, the Park City Chamber/Bureau told the world it snowed.
“(Wednesday) we sent out approximately 60,000 emails to past guests. We sent the blast out at about 12 noon,” said president and CEO Bill Malone via email, adding, “It’s pretty amazing what the power of a few flakes can do to get people thinking about skiing/riding.”
He also said 182 people registered for the “Quick Start” program.
Emily Summers, Deer Valley Resort spokesperson, said the resort will send out powder alerts via email or text anytime it gets six inches of snow or more. Guests can sign up for the service at the company homepage.
Hannah Bowling, a spokesperson for The Canyons said the resort has year-round newsletters skiers and snowboarders can subscribe to. The homepage also allows them to pick what days they want to receive daily snow reports.
Jessica Kunzer from SkiUtah said once the season starts, skiers and snowboarders can be notified of snow totals daily.
“The alerts have not started yet, but will as soon as the resorts open. We rely on their assistance to help report totals,” she said via email.
