A 36-year-old Virginia man was found in a rugged area near Kings Peak on Sunday after he was reported missing in the Uinta Mountains east of Kamas.
"We found the guy pretty quickly," said Detective Ron Bridge, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. "We sent up a handful of guys just to check the area and look around."
The missing man’s friend made contact with the Sheriff’s Office on Sunday at about 10:30 a.m. after the man didn’t show up that morning.
"They had a camp set up on Friday night. They started to go up Saturday and got separated," Bridge said. "The friend reported him missing after he didn’t come back to camp. The guy actually didn’t call until Sunday morning."
The search was "solved pretty easily," Bridge added.
"We got up there, searched the area, found him and everybody was reunited," he said. "We were done by 6 p.m."
