The authorities have arrested a 26-year-old Salt Lake County man who is accused of sending pornography to an undercover deputy posing on the Internet as a 13-year-old girl.
The man chatted several times with the deputy before sending the pornography, according to Detective Ron Bridge, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
“The chats were sexual in nature and the man relayed the desire to meet the child to engage in sexual activities,” a prepared statement from the Sheriff’s Office states.
The suspect was booked into the Summit County jail on Oct. 21 after a search warrant was served at his Salt Lake home, Bridge said.
He said the chats took place in May 2010. The suspect could face felony charges.
“This is a prime example of the Sheriff’s Office determination to combat Internet crimes against children,” Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dean Carr said. “Our Internet crimes against children investigator is persistent in identifying offenders that may affect the citizens in this community.”
