This year’s Sundance Film Festival bus map includes two special routes for those attending movies at the Temple and Redstone theaters in the Snyderville Basin.

The Temple Theatre is located inside Temple Har Shalom at 3700 N. Brookside Court off State Road 224. The theater has no public parking and vehicles parked along the highway may be towed.

Parking for the Temple Theatre is available in Park City at the park-and-ride lot at The Yard on Kearns Boulevard. The Temple Theatre Express bus will operate from 8 a.m. to midnight Jan. 21-29 with stops at The Yard, The Yarrow Hotel and Peaks Hotel.

“If it is marked ‘no parking’ and people ignore those signs, there is a possibility they will be towed immediately,” Summit County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ron Bridge said. “Especially if they are hampering snow removal or impeding traffic in any way, the vehicles will be removed.”

Drivers who park on the highway create dangerous situations for pedestrians and other motorists, he said.

“If cars begin to stack up on the highway, it quickly becomes a traffic hazard,” Bridge explained. “That is a huge mess and that is why there is no parking on highways in any way, shape or form.”

The other Sundance venue in the Snyderville Basin is the Redstone Theatre at 6030 N. Market Street. Redstone has public parking but officials suggest riding the bus.

“There is going to be additional traffic on the road,” Summit County Public Works Administrator Kevin Callahan said. “Everything we can do during the festival to reduce individual travel is a good thing.”

New sidewalks at Redstone will make it easier to get around on foot.

“They’ll be able to get there and just relax and enjoy themselves,” Callahan said.

The Redstone Express stops at the Old Town Transit Center, Yarrow Hotel, Peaks Hotel and the Newpark Hotel.

The Redstone Express bus will operate Jan. 21-24 and Jan. 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. The route will operate Jan. 25-28 from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Free public buses also operate throughout the day between the Old Town Transit Center and Kimball Junction. For additional information, Sundance organizers say go to any Information Booth, shuttle stop or ask a Festival Insider.
