A bicyclist and a dog collided in Park Meadows in late June, causing the bicyclist to crash, in an accident involving two cherished threads of the fabric of the Park City lifestyle — dog ownership and bicycling.
The Police Department was contacted after the accident. Police Chief Wade Carpenter said the accident flipped the rider off his bicycle. He suffered minor injuries, including cuts, Carpenter said.
The bicyclist lives in Park Meadows, the police chief said. The person declined to press charges against the dog owner.
Carpenter said the police were told the rider was on the 1300 block of Lucky John Drive when a dog ran out of a yard and into the road. The dog retreated back into the yard after the collision, according to Carpenter.
The police chief said the dog was gone by the time a police officer arrived to investigate. The officer was unable to locate the dog. Carpenter said the dog might be a Rottweiler.
Leash laws are in effect in public places throughout Park City and surrounding Summit County.
