Treasure Mountain soil testing
The Environmental Protection Agency will be performing soil testing on Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 in the area around Treasure Mountain Junior High, which is near a former tailings site. According to a Park City School District press release, Park City High School and McPolin Elementary School have been tested in the past and were brought into line with the Park City soils ordinance.
“Since children are at the greatest risk from metals exposure, this is an excellent time to gather data to ensure that any redevelopment is done in an appropriate manner to be protective of human health,” the release states.
Park City Dual Language films
The Park City Film Series will be airing foreign language films as part of the Park City School District’s Dual Language Immersion program. Alternating monthly between Spanish- and French-language films, the movies will be shown on the second Saturday of each month at 3 p.m. at both the Kimball Junction and Park City libraries, according to a press release. While the showings are part of the DLI program, all foreign language students, as well as anyone interested in foreign cinema, are welcome to attend. The films will be shown with English subtitles.
PCHS Mr. Miner Pageant
Park City High School will be hosting its annual Mr. Miner Pageant to raise money for the dance program. According to a press release, the pageant will be held Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Eccles Center, with a ticket costing $5 if purchased in advance and $7 at the door.
