The time is now for pumpkin decorating, candy and family fun and with Halloween approaching, the Newpark Amphitheater is ready to celebrate. The Kimball Junction Business Association, Basin Recreation and PC Moms have partnered to put on Kimball Junction’s first Boo Bash, a free fall event open to everyone.
The Bash will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, from noon until 3 p.m. and will feature face-painting, pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern and a spooky beanbag toss, among other festive activities. Pony rides will be offered for $2.
Trick-or-treating will take place during the event with association businesses offering candy at a variety of stops throughout Kimball Junction. Costumes are not required but are encouraged to help build Halloween excitement.
Although this is the Boo Bash’s first year, event manager Leah Kolb said, “(The Kimball Junction Business Association) hopes to possibly make it an annual event.”
Besides providing locals with a chance to socialize and get excited for the coming fall holidays, Kolb hopes the Boo Bash will promote the businesses in Kimball junction area.
To kick off the event, Basin Recreation will host its annual Celebrate the Spirits 5K and mile run the same day.
Runners of both races will start at the Field House before running to Cutter Lane and back. The track will be lined with trick-or-treating stations hosted by local businesses and organizations. Runners can enjoy hot cider and Du Monde Gourmet cookies before joining the Boo Bash.
Runners can register in advance or the day of by visiting basinrecreation.org. They will receive a Celebrate the Spirits T-shirt and a trick-or-treating bag to be used on the course. When they register, they will also be entered into an opportunity drawing for prizes including Rossignol winter-sports gear, Maxwell’s gift cards, Starbucks gift bags and more.
The race costs $20 per person or $40 for a family. Proceeds will benefit the Park City Education Foundation.
“It’s a unique race with costumed trick-or-treating and what’s even better is that all the proceeds benefit a great local organization, the Park City Education Foundation,” explained Alexis Brown, Basin Recreation’s administrative coordinator.
