A federal eviction moratorium may expire at the end of this year, leaving local families vulnerable once again to being forced from their homes for an inability to pay rent.
On Thursday, the Mountain Mediation Center is hosting a virtual information session aimed at providing knowledge and resources for people who might be grappling with homelessness, or for those who want more information about how the legal relationship functions between a landlord and a tenant.
The conversation, which will be in Spanish, is scheduled from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, and will be streamed on Mountain Mediation Center Utah’s Facebook page and over Zoom, accessible at the following site: us02web.zoom.us/j/85077900023.

Mountain Mediation Outreach Coordinator Lirio Sanchez will facilitate the event and be joined by Jeff Daybell, an attorney who founded People’s Legal Aid, a Salt Lake-based nonprofit that focuses on eviction.
Sanchez said that participants will be able to ask questions using Zoom or Facebook. She hopes the session will connect people with resources available to help them like legal aid or grants.
