Betsy Wallace is taking a new role at the Park City Institute.
After serving as the performing arts nonprofit’s executive director since May 1, Wallace will return to its board of directors and join the finance committee, oversee grant management and continue to curate the organization’s speaker series, according to a press release.
“It has been an honor to serve as the executive director of Park City Institute, and I am immensely proud of the incredible summer experiences we have brought to our community,” she said.
While the nonprofit, which was established in 1988, prepares to embark on a search for a new executive director, the board has named Ember Conley, former Park City School District superintendent, as interim executive director.
“I am confident that the organization is poised for an exciting future under the leadership of our interim Executive Director Ember Conley,” Wallace said.
Conley brings a “wealth of experience” and a “deep commitment” to the organization’s mission of providing innovative experiences that “entertain, educate and illuminate” through world-class entertainment to the Park City community, the press release said.
“I am thrilled to join Park City Institute and have the opportunity to contribute to its legacy,” Conley said. “Our commitment to providing world-class entertainment remains unwavering, and I look forward to working closely with our team, stakeholders, and the community to ensure our mission endures.”
Park City Institute board of directors said it remains dedicated to supporters and donors, and will ensure a smooth and “carefully managed” transition of responsibilities, as well as a “seamless continuation” of programming, according to the release.
During Wallace’s term as director, Park City Institute reintroduced the Big Stars, Bright Nights Summer Concert Series to outdoor audiences at Canyons Village, and curated the upcoming speaker series programming for the current Main Stage winter series scheduled at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts.

Wallace worked eight years at the Sundance Institute, five of them as the nonprofit’s managing director, before retiring in March to helm the Park City Institute. She also briefly started a campaign for Park City Council in May before dropping out in August.
