Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Thursday were dispatched to a possible injury accident in Wanship.
The caller said a vehicle had driven off the road and was stuck in a ditch on Old Lincoln Highway, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies located the driver, an adult man from Weber County, who showed signs of impairment. Prescription drugs were also found in the car. Sheriff’s Sgt. Felicia Sotelo said there was no evidence the medication did not belong to the suspect.
Deputies conducted a standardized field sobriety test. The driver performed poorly and was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to two other calls between Monday, Oct. 23, and Sunday, Oct. 29. The reports were about a recovered stolen vehicle and a theft.
Saturday, Oct. 28
License plate recognition equipment detected a stolen license plate in the Canyons Village area. Deputies checked the VIN and learned the vehicle had been taken out of South Jordan. The car was towed. The license plate and vehicle were removed from the National Crime Information Center database.
Tuesday, Oct. 24
Someone drove up to a parked trailer in Silver Creek and stole a dirt compaction tool. Deputies said the suspect used a cutting tool to remove the chain and lock that were on the machinery. The man was driving a white minivan. Deputies were waiting for security footage from the area.
