Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a driver near Kimball Junction on Friday after finding drugs inside the vehicle.
Deputies stopped the car traveling westbound on Interstate 80 near exit 145 because they considered it an “unsafe vehicle,” according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies approached the driver and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.
Law enforcement searched the vehicle, locating a small amount of methamphetamine and oxycodone as well as other paraphernalia used for narcotics, according to the report.
The driver was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, paraphernalia and not wearing a seatbelt. The individual was booked into the Summit County Jail without incident.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to several other calls between Monday, March 18, and Sunday, March 24, including reports of driving under the influence, speeding and drugs.
Friday, March 22
Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding near the Tollgate Canyon exit. They learned the driver had an active arrest warrant for DUI while conducting a records check. The driver was arrested.
Thursday, March 21
A car was stopped on Ute Boulevard in Kimball Junction after deputies discovered a warrant attached to the vehicle. The driver was identified as the wanted person and the individual was arrested.
Wednesday, March 20
Deputies stopped a vehicle in Silver Creek. They searched the vehicle and found open containers of alcohol as well as a small amount of methamphetamine. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
A vehicle was stopped traveling westbound on I-80 near mile marker 141. Deputies approached the driver and noticed the smell of alcohol. The driver was asked to participate in standardized field sobriety tests, which the individual performed poorly on. Deputies arrested the driver under suspicion of DUI.
