I urge Gov. Cox not to sign H.B. 77 introduced by state Rep. Trevor Lee of Layton, the Gay Pride Flag Bill. Please stand up and support all Utahans, of which the LGBTQ+ human beings are citizens. We are a diverse population. We need to be an all-inclusive people in this state.
Don’t shoot the Sundance Film Festival retention effort you are a part of in the foot with a visible irritant and issue. We as a state are much richer for what Robert Redford started here, the people it brings to our state, the education and enlightenment that comes with the films. It is a great part of our heritage and also of significant financial and global prominence.
The follow-on implications if you sign the bill are equality important to the Olympic movement.
Most importantly, it impacts many of the people who live here and their families, friends.
I finished a book this weekend on how John Kennedy ran his campaign in 1960, and he openly took stances that were right for the country, in defiance of his religion. I hope you have the same resolve and govern for all who are citizens of Utah.
