Watching the evenings news and observing the millions of people that showed up to protest our current administration and their actions to destroy America, I asked myself, where was Park City last Saturday and what has become of us? Where was our protest? Where were our outraged people? As the “liberal bubble” of Utah, who dropped the ball in our town on a very important day?
On Jan. 21, 2017, over 7,000 of us gathered to protest the newly elected president and marched down Main Street to say no to the disaster that had befallen us. It was peaceful, it was powerful. We endured two feet of snow and Sundance traffic to let our voices be heard. Do we need celebrities to inspire us? Why did we not organize this time?
Thank you to Heber and Salt Lake for picking up our slack. You represented and I am personally grateful.
We marched because we were angry. We marched because we wanted our voices to be heard.
We need new blood to continue our fight in our small town. So next time you have a chance to be heard, cancel your massage, miss your spin class, let your court time go, and get out there to be heard before our little bubble bursts and we’re just another passive suburb in Utah!
