In my column published on May 17, “Dad had the right instincts, and math skills,” I referenced data related to government growth.
Upon further review, I’d like to clarify that while the broader point about increased spending remains a valid concern, the specific employment numbers cited relied on metrics from different sources distorting my numbers. While government spending increased by approximately 40% between 2019 and 2024, the full-time civilian workforce, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics grew by only about 7% during the same period.
My intent was to spotlight a trend — not mislead — and I appreciate the opportunity to correct the record. I remain committed to honest, fact-based dialogue.
