As someone who has had the privilege of working closely with Ryan Dickey in multiple capacities, I am honored to share why I believe he is the right choice to serve as Park City’s next mayor.
I first served with Ryan on the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission, and later, as a Summit County Council member, I had the opportunity to collaborate with him on critical issues facing our community. During our time together, I quickly came to value Ryan’s pragmatism, professionalism and thoughtful approach to decision-making. As a colleague and later as chair of the Planning Commission, Ryan consistently demonstrated his ability to analyze complex issues, balance competing interests, and find workable solutions that reflected the broader good.
Ryan is not only intelligent and deeply knowledgeable, but he also embodies a rare quality: he listens. Even in contentious discussions, Ryan creates space for all voices, including those he disagrees with. He has an innate ability to diffuse tension, ensure that people feel heard, and still guide conversations toward resolution.
Ryan and I have many times been on opposite sides of an issue, and I have been able to discuss these issues with Ryan knowing that he will seek to understand my perspective while clearly articulating his own.
That ability to bridge differences is exactly what Park City needs in its next mayor.
In addition to his interpersonal strengths, Ryan brings significant professional competencies that will serve the city well. With a strong background in finance and strategy, he consistently grounds his decisions in sound analysis and long-term vision. He has been a reliable leader on issues ranging from affordable housing and sustainability to thoughtful land-use planning. His pragmatic leadership style means that he not only aims high but also ensures those ideas can be implemented effectively.
At a time when Park City faces complex challenges — balancing growth with sustainability, addressing housing affordability, and navigating regional transportation — Ryan has shown he can lead with both vision and practicality. He understands that Park City is part of a larger ecosystem and consistently takes a holistic approach, weighing impacts on residents, visitors, and future generations.
Park City deserves a mayor who combines competence with compassion, professionalism with pragmatism, and vision with respect. From my years working alongside him, I know Ryan Dickey is that leader. I urge Parkites to support his candidacy for mayor.
