I ran for Park City Council because our community deserves leaders who listen, collaborate and take action. These leaders are Tana Toly and Diego Zegarra for City Council, and Ryan Dickey for mayor. These candidates bring unique strengths to their deep, proven investment in Park City. They are united, too, by their commitment to pragmatic and respectful leadership.
Recently, I had the experience of engaging with the current City Council as an appointed member of a city committee. In this role, I experienced first hand the hostility shown to so many by three current council members. Let me be clear: I encourage questions and welcome direct feedback, and I do believe the council must acquire information needed to ensure it charts the correct course for our community.
This was not that. It was disrespect and derision cloaked as “direct talk.” It’s a major problem when our public process feels hostile — whether to staff, nonprofit partners, or residents who dedicate time and heart to show up for their community and speak at council meetings.
Don’t just take my word for it: my experience echoes those shared by former city staff members sounding the alarm in letters to the editor in these very pages, members of a large exodus over the last two years.
These hardworking people take with them decades of wisdom and institutional knowledge. I urge you to elect leaders who create space for honest input, treat people with dignity, and act on decisions. Tana, Diego and Ryan are these leaders.
Tana’s roots run deep: a local business owner whose relentless work to move council projects forward has more than proven her grit and dedication to protecting Park City as we know it.
Diego’s years of community work demonstrate his astounding gift to connect and rally across sectors and solve tough problems.
And Ryan, who has served Park City in so many ways through his experience on the Snyderville Planning Commission, Park City Council and scaling his local business, has consistently demonstrated the ability to build consensus while driving progress. He is often the one urging action rather than another round of studies. His decisiveness, collaborative style, business experience, and actual positions of service to our community are exactly what we need in a mayor.
Together, they understand a thriving Park City requires balance — supporting businesses and workers, protecting open space, and ensuring families, schools and seniors have the resources they need. They value collaboration, and they are not afraid to make decisions. They are respectful, engaged, and grounded in this community.
