My response to “Journalism Matters: Will Charlie Kirk’s core message die with a bullet?” Don Rogers, Sept. 13, online:
Liberals, not only are you sore losers, but you are the real haters. It appears you do need gun control — in order to control yourselves.
Conservatives do not kill someone who is just trying to talk to them. We do not raise violent protests. We do not kill cops, take over cities or justice centers in a “Summer of Love.” We do not use every kind of crazy law-fare to shut down the winning party.
We do not impeach. We do not dox our political opponents exposing them and their families to potential violence. We do not wear pink vagina hats to promote the right to kill babies. We do not put on “Julius Caesar” in Central Park and appear to be assassinating a presidential look-alike. We did not call Biden an authoritarian, or a demagogue or a fascist. Or Hitler or a Nazi.
It’s you! You are the divisive ones! You are the true haters.
We never started a “No Kings” movement against a man whose respect for the law made him sit in that ridiculous New York courtroom for weeks. We never perp walked Biden or made him pose for a mug shot. We have more respect for our country and the presidency than that.
We do not own the nasty media, or the “ladies” of “The View.” You are no longer journalists, but gossipers. You are the “fake news.” You are the hate mongers.
You, too, Don Rogers. It’s obvious from your column how little you know of the real Charlie Kirk. But that didn’t stop you from weighing in on the hate — in subtle tones. Calling Kirk “pugnacious” and “aggressive,” without offering one example of Charlie speaking as a transphobe, misogynist or antisemite.
Did you know Park City High School once started a Turning Point Chapter? But violence against free speech began early. In 2019, when a speaker from Prager University was scheduled, an 18-year-old student “admitted releasing pepper spray in the school’s lecture hall … to prevent a conservative school club from hosting an event.” (The Park Record, May 17, 2019). One student was hospitalized and 14 were treated at the scene.
Charlie Kirk started with 10 kids at a time at the age of 18, and he didn’t quit. He built it into an empire, supporting several buildings and a staff of over 1.000. Not bad for a kid who dropped out of college after one semester. He built his dream instead of living in mom and dad’s basement. He stood for his God and his values, whether you like that or not. He begged kids to get a job, find their life, marry and have babies. Oh, what an old-fashioned thought!
Not very intellectual? Watch his past discussions on atheism with Eric Metaxes, or his two-hour discussions on scripture with Pastor Jack Hibbs while only in his 20s. Or his debates at Cambridge and Oxford, where he destroyed some of the best college debaters ever. Maybe you could learn something.
It appears Charlie died for saying there are only two sexes and that mutilating your God-given body is wrong. But that was his belief. I guess he deserved the death penalty. Liberals could only win the argument with a bullet.
Liberals should be soul searching. Trying to figure out what they stand for and how to attract people to their cause. But instead, they’ve lost their souls.
That’s what we would be doing in your situation. We would be rebuilding our party instead of tearing down your turn at the presidency.
Our God says we must love our enemies. But you liberals are making it mighty hard. Even Jesus threw a tantrum in the Temple.
But no, we’re not for civil war, or any war. But “we are mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore.” Instead, we will honor Charlie and call your hatred out — whenever and wherever we see it!
