Trust in a local political race is still possible. It doesn’t have to be positional it can be objective.
You do, however, have to trust the candidates. Are they competent? Do they have commonality with the community? Do they have proprietary in their relationships and interactions? Do they have clear intentions of their roles? Do they understand the core values of the Park City community?
That said, I think that Ryan Dicky, Tana Toly and Diego Zegarra safely meet those requirements.
- Ryan understands the details as well as the big picture of community planning. He knows that our goals are not corporate goals but community goals.
- Tana clearly gets who we are as a small town and the vital significance of our historic character.
- Diego certainly comprehends who we are as people, not just some of the people but all of the people, those who we serve but importantly those who serve.
All three understand that there is a difference between running for office and being in office. Running is about who they are, their character and integrity. Being, most importantly, is a contextual shift of focus to and about the community.
In other words it shifts from being about them to solving the issues and problems of the broader city.
I think they have what it takes to do that job, the willingness to be objective and the grace necessary to represent the Park City community.
