We have lived in Park City for 31 years. In that time residential parking was instituted in Old Town to keep us from getting overrun by employees and tourists using our streets for parking. It worked very well.
In recent years at the direction of our City Council, the parking department has been pressuring the residents by reducing our ability to use our street parking. We are now limited to one street parking pass, even though we have three adults living and four cars. They say there are not enough street spots, so they are limiting parking for our benefit. Sounds good, right?
The only problem is they are now taking those spots and selling them to tourists and nightly rental companies on Main Street, not even in the residential zone. This is extremely underhanded that the council would do this as if they need more money. The residential zones were created to protect us, not be an extra source of income for them.
What they are doing shows their greed and lack of morals toward the people that voted for them and in some cases their neighbors. It’s time to vote. Consider this when you do.
