This sentiment rings particularly true for Meghan Kahn, a beloved Park City native who was diagnosed with ALS at just 38 years old. On Oct. 11, we came together to show our unwavering support for Meghan and her family, but the words “thank you” simply don’t capture the depth of gratitude we feel for the generosity shown throughout the fundraising event.
The response from the Park City community was nothing short of extraordinary. With the backing of former teachers, classmates, neighbors, and friends, we gathered to raise over $30,000 — an incredible sum that will help ease some of the financial burdens that come with an ALS diagnosis.
This condition is not just a medical challenge. It’s a life-altering journey that affects both the individual and their family profoundly. The funds raised will go towards necessary medical care, therapies, and support services, allowing Meghan and her loved ones to focus on what truly matters: being together during this difficult time.
The fundraiser kicked off with a donation workout class at Basin Recreation, where participants engaged in exercise as a way to honor Meghan’s strength. After sweating it out together, we enjoyed a meaningful walk followed by a silent auction filled with generous donations from local businesses and community members.
The atmosphere was electric with love and support, reminding everyone present of the many connections we share. As the sun continued to shine (despite the rainy forecast), over 150 friends reunited, united not only by the cause but by the love we hold for Meghan and her family.
It’s important to recognize all those who played a role in making the event a success. Special thanks are due to the dedicated volunteers who organized the day, the local businesses that donated items for the silent auction, and everyone who participated, whether through financial contributions or moral support.
