The results of the recent Park City mayoral election mark an important moment for our community. With Councilor Ryan Dickey’s hard fought (presumed) victory as our next mayor, his current council seat will soon become vacant — and that vacancy presents a crucial decision for the sitting council.
I strongly believe that the council should appoint Jeremy Rubell to fill that seat without hesitation. Jeremy has served our city with dedication and integrity over the past four years. Even though he missed re-election this cycle, 1,524 Park City residents voted for him in an impressive show of continued confidence. That level of support speaks volumes. It reflects both name recognition and, more importantly, trust built through proven leadership, engagement and experience.
During an election season that at times turned contentious, Jeremy consistently brought thoughtfulness and balance to the conversation. He’s demonstrated a clear understanding of our city’s priorities — sustainable growth, community connection, and responsible governance. His record shows not only what he’s accomplished but how he conducts himself: collaboratively and with respect for differing viewpoints.
Appointing Jeremy isn’t just a convenient option — it’s the right and logical choice. It maintains continuity, honors the will of a majority of voters, and ensures that the council remains grounded in experience during an important transitional period.
For the good of Park City, I urge the council to appoint Jeremy Rubell to the vacant seat and allow him to continue the work he’s done so well on behalf of all residents.
