The organizers of a gathering of governors from the West planned in Deer Valley this summer said President Trump will be invited to the event.
It seems unlikely he will attend, though.
The Western Governors’ Association said an incumbent president is sent an invitation to each of the annual meetings. However, it said a seated president has never attended.
Each member of the president’s Cabinet is also invited annually. Some of the Cabinet members usually are in attendance each year, according to the association.
The event is scheduled at the Stein Eriksen Lodge from June 30 to July 2. The president at that time would be expected to be preparing for the Fourth of July celebration in Washington, D.C., as the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
If Trump were to attend the Deer Valley gubernatorial meeting, he would be the fourth incumbent president to visit the Park City area. President Clinton visited twice on vacation, President George W. Bush traveled to the community on a fundraising trip and President Biden appeared to raise funds.
