Stunned and disappointed best describes my reaction to last Wednesday’s edition covering the Bonanza property.
First, on page one, the article about the development read like it was a done deal. Only in later paragraphs did we understand the Planning Commission is just beginning to review.
Then, the opinion piece by Editor Don Rogers blamed residents for not coming forward to protest the plan until now. Not so!
When the Maverick gas station was closed, and Anaya’s grocery/restaurant was torn down, residents were flabbergasted that our cherished corner was obliterated almost overnight. That occurred during a former mayoral administration long before Editor Don Rogers arrived on the Park City scene.
Residents have been watching this corner for years, and now, when the project has mushroomed to become a gridlocked mess, we are bringing attention to a potential misdeed championed by developers who stand to benefit.
Last Wednesday’s edition of the Park Record regarding Bonanza Park was misleading, and therefore disturbing. Many of us are turning to online forums to get the straight scoop.
