The mayors’ terms in each of Summit County’s five east side towns are slated to expire at the end of the year and those who want to run must file next week. Also, two seats on each town’s council will be up for reelection.
Interested candidates must live in the jurisdiction they hope to represent, be registered voters, be at least 18 years old by Nov. 5 and file their intention to seek office with their city office.
The filing window is open from Monday at 9 a.m. through Friday at 5 p.m. If more than two people file for any of the mayor’s seats, a primary will be held Aug. 13. If more than four candidates file for the council posts in any town there will be a primary runoff on that ticket.
